Choc Hemp Recipes

We love hemp, both for its taste and its nutritional benefits so we're very excited to have Plant Fuel Nutrition now available on My Vegan Mart.

Don't know much about Hemp? Well, here is the short version and why you should try it...

Hemp Protein is a plant protein formed from cold pressing hemp seeds. It is a vegan protein source and in its raw form it has a slightly nutty flavour. Hemp is a great source of protein which contains all 9 essential amino acids, a great balance of omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids. It's also one of the few sources of the hard to get GLA - a plant derived Omega 6.

Plant Fuel Nutrition use only organic Australian hemp manufactured from cold-pressed hemp seed. Their hemp protein is sourced from farms in Tasmania and NSW.

The Pure Hemp Protein is extremely versatile, or for some extra deliciousness try the Chocolate Hemp Pro - the Organic Cold Pressed Australian Hemp Protein has been mixed with cacao and maca power for a smooth, rich taste and is naturally sweeted with organic stevia. There is also a Hemp Seel Oil which is cold pressed using organic Australian hemp seed, unrefined and packed in a glass bottle to retain its freshness.

There are so many things you can do with these but here are a couple of suggestions. If you try them, let us know what you think!

These are perfect for when you want to be naughty, but not too naughty!

1 ½ cup almond meal

½ cup Pure Hemp Protein

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp sea salt

½ cup vegan choc chips

½ cup goji berries

½ cup macadamia nuts (chopped and roasted)

100ml coconut oil

3 tbsp maple syrup

1.5 tbsp almond milk

Preheat oven to 180° Celsius.

In a large bowl mix all dry ingredients.

In a separate bowl mix the coconut oil, maple syrup, and almond milk. Whisk together, then fold and mix in the dry ingredients until a dough is formed.

Scoop out small ball size amounts of the dough and place on a baking tray. Press down on balls slightly to form cookie shape and bake for approximately 20 mins or until golden brown.

Makes approx 15 cookies.

This recipe makes your breakfast look and taste as good as dessert. And it's so simple and quick that it can be done even on a work day. I love the addition of zucchini for extra goodness, and you can have your chocolate hit, without the guilt.

1-2 frozen bananas
Handful of frozen zucchini
1 heaped scoop Chocolate Hemp Protein
1 medjool date
Splash of coconut water

Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
Spoon into a bowl, decorate with your favourite toppings, and enjoy.
